The Cameron Baptist Church Family is here for you! |
You Are Not Alone |
| Cameron Baptist Church desires to use its position in the Lawton community to provide a valuable and unique ministry, which will support the needs of family members of deployed personnel.
As the news continues to remind us, the probability of our country becoming involved in a conflict grows every day. Personnel from our community, as well as from Cameron Baptist Church, have been deployed to the Middle East and Far East for a long time. Recently, this deployment has increased, and the situation is more precarious. We are constantly reminded of the needs of families who have family members deployed overseas, and the need for a ministry that is oriented toward meeting those needs is apparent. Through the Deployed Family Member Support Ministry, we desire to reach out to all of those in the Lawton/Fort Sill community, who are impacted by the deployment of family members. We realize that the needs will reach across all ages, from small children to adults. The most common example is the young mother who is left behind when her husband is deployed. However, we also have already seen examples of a husband being left behind, a teenager who has both parents deployed, and grandparents caring for children as the parents are deployed. Cameron Baptist Church has already solicited and gained volunteers to provide assistance through this ministry. God has blessed these volunteers with many talents and abilities. These volunteers are not preforming these tasks for reward or money. They do it because they love people and they love this community. There are innumerable possibilities for needs to be met. We have people who are willing to do everything from helping to get a cat off the roof ( dad normally does that ) to providiing emotional and spiritual support when needed. Law enforcement, money management, child care, CPR and other health needs, handling angry landlords, lawn-care and just being a friend are all areas that we will be able to provide assistance. In order for you to benefit from this ministry, we need you to register as soon as possible. You can do this by calling the Church at 355-4854, or by mailing a card with your name, address, and phone number, to: Cameron Baptist Church, 2621 SW C Avenue, Lawton Oklahoma 73505. We will remain sensitive to the proprietary and personal nature of any and all information you provide. Co-coordinators for this ministry are Phil and Debbie Sperling. Phil retired as an officer from the U.S. Army in 1992 after serving in "Operation Desert Shield" and "Operation Desert Storm." Thank you, and we look format to being of service to you.
